About Geraldton

Geraldton is a coastal town 424km north of Perth, and is the gateway to the Abrolhos Islands. Though officially founded in 1850 as a mining town, its history goes as far back as the 17th century, with the wreck of the Batavia in 1629. The wreck still lies at the bottom of the ocean to this day.

These days, Geraldton is a tourist location with a population of around 38,000. Its key attractions include the HMAS Sydney II Memorial and Point Moore Lighthouse. The town also offers the perfect getaway for ocean lovers who are looking to escape those winter blues, with popular activities such as surfing, fishing and scuba diving.
